If you have just moved to Canada, you will have no credit rating , which means you will not be able to apply for credit cards online. American Express has a deal where if you have a credit card in another country , than they will use this credit history to help you apply in a new country :D. If you don’t have one of these , there are various banks that offer services to help you build a credit rating :

  1. You will need to walk into your local Scotia bank and bring the following
    1. Passport
    2. Driving License ( Local Driving License with your Canadian Address on  )
  2. They will then create a profile for you and set you up a meeting with a banking advisor( can be same day if the availability is there )
  3. Attend the Meeting, For this meeting you will need
    1. Passport
    2. Driving License ( Local Driving License with your Canadian Address on  )
    3. Your Visa
    4. Your employment letter for your company signed stating your Salary
    5. SIN ( Social Insurance Number )
    6. Something else with proof of your Address on it , if you only have one proof of the above

Bear in mind your maximum credit for Scotia will be $5000 and they do not allow joint Cards on the StartRight Plan
