Oxfam Glastonbury 2022 Pre-Festival Information 📢🎪🚗

Thank you so much for signing up to volunteer with us at Glastonbury, I can’t wait to see you all down at Worthy Farm in just a few weeks! By stewarding with us at the festival this year, you will be helping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds towards Oxfam’s life-saving work.

I have included lots of really important information in this email, so please read everything below through carefully.

When to Arrive

You need to be onsite by 8pm on Tuesday 21st June at the latest, but you can arrive any time between 10am and 8pm on either Monday 20th or Tuesday 21st.

There’s no obligation to come down on Monday rather than Tuesday, but it gives you an extra day to get set up, make friends, and explore the festival site before the public get in.

Please don’t try to arrive outside of these times, as the gates to our campsite will be locked and you’ll be stuck outside.

Vehicle Routing Pass

You’ve told us that you’re arriving by vehicle, so next week we’ll post you a Routing Pass (unless you’re coming to IoW or Download, in which case we’ll bring it there instead). Glastonbury asks that you don’t put pictures of your pass up on social media.

Put this pass in your windscreen before setting off for Glastonbury, as it will help the police and traffic marshals direct you to our field as you approach the festival, and will allow your vehicle to access our carpark.

NB – we will only send one pass per registration number on our system.

How to Get Here by Vehicle

When you get close to the festival, you will see Glastonbury’s routing signs. Follow the signage for PURPLE ROUTE to reach our carpark and campsite.

If you use a satnav, you can follow BA4 6SZ to get close to the festival. Please do not set your satnav to “Glastonbury Festival” or “Worthy Farm” as this will lead you astray. As soon as you see the routing signs, turn your satnav off and follow the PURPLE ROUTE signage.

What to do When You Get Here

When you arrive at our campsite, you need to register, and then pick up your wristband. You can do this on Monday or Tuesday between 1pm and 8pm.

Registration takes place in our campsite marquee. This is where you will pick up your hi-viz tabard, the details of your shifts, the time of your briefing, your lanyard, and your meal & shower tokens.

Once you’ve done this, you can pick up your wristband from our ‘adbox’ cabin.

You’ll need to show valid photo ID* to register and to pick up your wristband.

Briefings

Everyone needs to attend a stewards or supervisors briefing. You will be given your briefing time at registration, as it depends on your role and shift times.

About our Campsite

We have a secure, friendly, and well-provisioned campsite, with a few necessary rules to keep it running smoothly:
Space is at a premium, so please be considerate with the size of your tent. Please don’t bring gazebos or similar ancillary structures, we may ask you to take them down.
Flagpoles, windsocks, kites, etc are all strictly banned from our entire campsite because of overhead powerlines.
Small well-managed fires are very welcome! They must be raised off the ground in a purpose-built structure, so the grass doesn’t get scorched (this makes the livestock sick). This includes disposable BBQs – you must bring something to put them on!
Animals, drones, glass, and sound-systems are not permitted anywhere on site, including our campsite.
When you register, you will receive 3 tokens for use at our campsite catering unit. They also sell meals here at cheaper-than-site prices.

If you’re planning to buy cooked food on site, please do consider supporting our caterers. Thanks to the ravages of the pandemic, we’re in real danger of losing this luxury for future years, but buying food here will help keep them going.

In our campsite marquee, there’s 24hr boiling water available, plus free tea and coffee, and free phone charging sockets.

What to Bring

Remember, we’re onsite for quite a long time. Don’t forget to pack the following:
Your valid photo ID*. Without this you won’t be able to join us onsite.
A tent, sleeping bag and roll mat.
Clothes for all weathers. The British summer is unpredictable, and nightshifts can get cold.
Good sturdy comfortable shoes. Glastonbury involves a lot of walking!
Your bathing costume, for use in the open-plan showers.
Enough food for the duration, or enough money to buy food at the festival.
A plate and cutlery, for use when eating at our catering unit.
A mug, so you can enjoy our free tea and coffee.
A refillable water bottle, there’s no disposable bottles on-site.
Your phone and charger.
*Accepted Photo ID this year is: Photo card driving license or Provisional Photo driving license, Passport, expired Passport (providing the picture still looks like you!), SIA card, Senior Citizen Bus Pass (government issued), Proof of Age card (issued by the Police), NHS staff card, Emergency Services staff card, Civil Service ID, Military ID, European (government issued) ID card, European photo card Driving License. No ID, no site access!

This line will be available 24hrs a day from 12noon on Mon 20th until 2pm on Mon 27th. Please save this number to your mobile now. You can use it to call us at any time throughout the event, including if you become sick and can’t make it to your shift.
